Salt Lake City has the oldest housing and the biggest trees in the county, and the two go together. On the Avenues and the east-side streets a gutter can fill twice in one fall, and the run is often original to a house built before 1970, so it needs to be cleared without being leaned on. Steep older roofs mean most of this work happens off a ladder rather than off the roof.
Gutter Cleaning covers the same work here as anywhere else we go: what is included, and what changes the price.
Who does the work: a trusted contractor, paid by you directly, with Woodbury standing behind the work.
Gutter Cleaning across Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City is the oldest housing stock in the county by a distance, with a median build year of 1965 and two thirds of the houses built before 1980. The Avenues, Sugar House and the east-side streets have mature trees, wood trim, and original details worth keeping, which changes how carefully you work on them.
What we usually find on Salt Lake City houses
- Original sectional runs with soldered or sealed joints, often on their first owner
- Wood fascia behind the gutter, which is what suffers when a joint has been weeping
- Heavy leaf load from mature street trees, packed rather than loose
- Steep older roof pitches, so most of the work happens off a ladder
The housing in Salt Lake City
The median Salt Lake City home was built in 1965, and 65.4% of the housing here went up before 1980. That makes it some of the oldest housing we work on, roughly 20 years older than the middle of our service area, so most of what we find here has been repaired at least once already.

Questions
Frequently asked
How often does an older east-side house need this?
Twice a year is normal where the trees are mature: once after the leaves come down and once in late spring after the blossom and seed drop. One clean a year is usually not enough here.
The gutters are old. Will cleaning them damage them?
It can if they are handled roughly, which is why we work off ladders rather than putting weight on a run that has been up for fifty years. If something is too far gone to clean safely we will tell you before we start.
