A gutter has one job, which is to move water away from the foundation, and it stops doing that quietly. Grit and needles pack the run, the weight pulls the fall out of level, and water starts going over the edge instead of to the downspout. Nothing announces it until you see a stain on the fascia or a wet patch at one corner of the house.

What this covers

  • Clearing gutters by hand rather than blowing debris onto the roof
  • Flushing downspouts and clearing blockages
  • Checking the fall so water actually reaches the outlet
  • Bagging and removing debris
  • Flagging loose hangers or open seams while up there
  • Checking fascia and trim for the staining that gives a leak away

What affects the price

Every house is a bit different. These are the things worth knowing before we can give you a number:

  • How long it has been, and how packed the runs are
  • How many stories, and whether the roof pitch makes ladder access awkward
  • The total length of gutter run, which is a bigger number on a larger lot
  • How much tree cover sits directly over the roofline
  • Whether anything found while clearing needs sealing rather than just emptying

Who does the work: The work is done by a trusted contractor we bring in, and you pay them directly. Woodbury Home Service stands behind their work and is on your side if anything is not right.

How the job goes

  1. We walk the outside first and look at where water has been going, not just where the gutter is full.
  2. Clearing is by hand into a bag rather than blown onto the yard or the beds below.
  3. Downspouts and elbows get flushed and checked for flow, because a clear trough over a blocked outlet still overflows.
  4. We check the hangers and the fall while we are up there and tell you what we found, with photos if it matters.

What we do not do

Worth knowing before we come out, so nobody wastes a visit.

  • We do not install gutter guards or leaf screens.
  • We do not replace a run that is past saving. We will tell you it is, and why.
  • We do not clean roofs, wash windows or clear valleys while we are up there.
  • We do not work on commercial or multi-story apartment buildings.

Questions

Frequently asked

How often do gutters need clearing?

It depends entirely on what is growing over the roof. A house with mature trees directly above it can need it twice a year. One with nothing overhanging can go a lot longer. We would rather look than guess.

How do I know it is the gutters?

Stained or peeling fascia, water sheeting off the roofline in a storm, or a wet patch at the foundation under one corner. Those all point at the same place.

Do you clear the downspouts too?

Yes. A clear gutter feeding a blocked downspout is still a blocked system, so flushing the outlets is part of the job rather than an extra.
